Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: The location is good, on a main road right next to the lake but not an especially busy one, with bus stops along the way not far from restaurants and town. It's walkable to get to town although a bit long. The apartment is up to date with a dishwasher, electric oven and washing machine. The host provided some single-use personal and household items like dish soap, shampoo, cotton swabs, coffee pods, etc and a bottle of prosecco which was all a welcoming touch. The balcony and view would be nice (but it was unusable and obstructed during my stay as I mention below).

Negative: The host did not make it clear through photos and specific words that the 1 bedroom balcony was unusable and lacking the view depicted in the listing images because it was obstructed by construction scaffolding, and I just did not believe the host's explanation given to me that the listing could not be changed to make the fact of the situation more clear before booking There is a lot of damage in the apartment which is mostly cosmetic. However, it does produce some anxiety that without documenting each and every item of damage, the guest could be charged for some pre-existing damage that was overlooked. Check in was too complicated because the instructions to fetch the key are wrong, pointing the new arrival to the boxes on the left instead of on the right where the key actually is, and noticing the correct location is difficult depending on the time of day that the garage light is operating. Manipulating and searching around the wrong box could also viewed as suspicious behavior by the other residents coming and going. The staff presented as available through WhatsApp are not actually that available and are only responding occasionally. There need to be better instructions around items like troubleshooting the mobile internet connection and the location of city trash receptacles (the closest trash bin is beyond the bus stop and without knowledge, it leads to a situation where one is faced with entering the bus with an unwanted trash bag).

Summary: It was okay, some small improvements and better communication would pay off
