The Neighborhood:
The Marigny is a safe, friendly, and laid-back area, rated as one of the top 10 hippest neighborhoods in the country by the "New Yorker" magazine. You will be in the middle of the Marigny/Bywater buzz, a short 5-6 minute walk to Frenchmen and about a 15 minute stroll to the French quarter, this central location is an ideal home base for your vacation. You don’t need to go far to discover why this neighborhood is a hidden gem — some of the best bars, restaurants, and art galleries in NOLA are closeby.
Getting Around:
The best way to get around is by foot, bike, or Uber. Depending on your stride, the French Quarter is 10-15 minutes walking or a short Uber away. But many, especially locals, prefer to spend time on Frenchman St. (less than a 5 minute walk) or in local galleries, restaurants, bars, and cafes in the Marigny and Bywater. Walking in this neighborhood is quite safe and common at all hours of the day and night. Use your common sense when coming and going late at night and take a taxi or Uber/Lyft if you are ever in doubt.
